India is a developing at a very high pace in terms for improvising the infrastructure. Delhi, being the national capital of our nation has always been under scrutiny for the development perspective. The Delhi development authority (DDA) has started working on a very ambitious project through which Delhi will soon be a “smart city” for this nation. The Delhi development authority has many plans in their bag for the city’s technological and infrastructural advancements. They have planned 3 smart cities to be developed out of which one would be the extended areas of Dwarka, Rohini and Narela. The above-mentioned developments would take the city technologically ahead and will give the city an international level infrastructure and recognition.

The Delhi development authority is also planning to have two integrated complexes. These complexes will be TOD (transit-oriented developments) at Mayur Vihar and in karkardooma. The Mayur Vihar TOD (transit-oriented developments) will be a city lake complex. It is planned to be built at Sanjay Lake in Mayur Vihar.

Mr. Venkaiah Naidu has gives a statement on 3rd or January in Delhi that “Delhi is the heart of India and the first smart city would come up here. The city of Barcelona in Spain has also promised technological support to us in our effort in this direction,” It is quite clear after his statement that their vision and mission for the next financial year is to take the national capital to a whole new level and make the city a “Smart city”

The allotment of the projects has been announced and it is being said that the private developers will develop the 3 “smart cities” ( Dwarka, Rohini and Narela ) and DDA will be involved by developing the infrastructures.

Mr. Balvinder Kumar (Ex DDA Vice-Chairperson) has given a statement to the media that “The ‘smart city’ will be a complete sub-city, which would be located in an area of 20-24 hectares and will be equipped with latest technologies and waste management techniques.” Mr. Balvinder further add to his statement that “The smart city will have a world-class infrastructure, 24-hour power supply, complete Wi-Fi connectivity, and will employ green technology and latest water conservation techniques like rain-harvesting and waste management techniques, among other facilities”

On Karkardooma TOD, Mr. Balvinder said that “The Karkardooma project was conceived two months back. We will hand over the project to the National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC) to execute. They will consult DDA on the concept, design and disposal of the property. We will soon sign MOU with them and they, in turn, will invite consultants through global tenders.” Mr. Balvinder Kumar highlighted that “this is DDA’s own exclusive initiative”
